Ok now everyone has a can opener in the drawer but none of your run of the mill can openers are as cool as my JML Can Opener. As you know it’s my Desert Island gadget.
The can opener opens most types of cans, I know that there are cans with ringpulls on them nowadays… it’ll even work on them to. I often find it difficult to get under the ring to open the can, or the ring pulls off – in these cases the can opener will open some of the way around and you’ve just got to open it a little (see picture below) and tip out the contents.
It runs on 4 AA batteries, I would probably advise that you store it away from other things because I used to leave mine in a drawer and it would start itself for no reason. The other tip I’d advise is keeping it away from cutlery or other metallic objects in a cutlery draw because the magnet… yes there’s a magnet on it can desensitise.
The device is made up of a wheel that turns to allow a set of teeth to open the can and a magnet that allows you to lift off the lid to keep your hands clean. For more information on the product visit the website here.
I’ve tried cheaper automatic can openers and they’ve never, ever been as good as this one. I’ve had it years and it’s still going strong. I’ve not been asked to write this review by JML or had it as a gift, it really is that good. It allows me to be more independent when cooking.
I’m going to upload a video tomorrow hopefully, it’s only quick one to get used to the software and filming, I’ll be linking it to this post, bare with me I’m hoping to be on youtube soon. This review is ongoing, so keep your eyes peeled (damn I didn’t want to say that) don’t forget to come back soon to read more!
