Don’t all shout at me, I know I’ve said I don’t eat rice these days but this review was written some time ago but never published.  This is Hunters Chicken and from the Weight Watchers range, a range in which we’ve already seen us review the impressive Salmon and Broccoli Wedge Melt  and the less so impressive Thai Green Chicken Curry.

You can see the ingredients and nutritional information above, you’ll notice there was 352Kcal (calories per pack) of which 4.2g were fat.  As I’m now on a low carb diet… I wouldn’t be eating this because of the rice, it’s a whopping 57g of Carbohydrates which is about more than I plan to eat in a three days.  The ingredient list is awesome, because it almost tells you how to make BBQ Sauce.  Hunter’s Chicken is chicken in a BBQ Sauce, it can be topped with cheese and is often found on gastro pub menus.

The cooking instructions are easy to follow and include instructions for microwaves which are 750W and 850W.  The printing is clear to understand and spread out fairly well.  The packaging was very clear all round and in my opinion was not too difficult to read.

If this dish hadn’t had the rice to accompany it I would have really enjoyed it, The Hunters Chicken element was really lovely, chunks of chicken which were succulent and a rich BBQ sauce made for a really enjoyable meal… then there was the rice!  I’m writing this fresh today but I’m going off my notes at the time, the grains of rice was like bullets, I don’t think it was the way the dish cooked because everything else was really nice.  Apart from the rice I’d buy this again, but as it comes with the rice I’m only scoring it a 6 out of ten.5 stars

I’m back later in the week with a recipe, and then it’s Party time on Friday as we get the band back together so to speak.  Greg my mother and I are off to Caradog’s for my mother’s birthday meal… bring on the fun and food!  Remember you can join us on social media and share with us your thoughts, recipes, and more.Wheelie Good Meals Social Networking

Ready Meal Monday – Weight Watchers Thai Green Chicken Curry

Weightwatchers Thai Green Chicken Curry

Only just making it in on time but we’re jetting off to Thai Land for this week’s installment of Ready Meal Monday…. how exotic I hear you say! This is Thai Green Chicken Curry, I’ve only experimented with Thai flavourings properly once and I really like them. I’ve made what I call Thai Fish Cakes but they’re not really authentic. Weight Watchers describes this ready meal on the packaging by saying:

Tender chicken breast pieces in a Thai green curry sauce with white rice.

This Ready Meal has 9 ProPoints, if you are a Weight Watchers subscriber you will know what this means, this will mean. For more information on the nutritional information and the ingredients see the image below:

The cooking instructions were ok, I feel though that because of the colouring of the packaging these instructions may be difficult for people with a visual impairments to read. The image below doesn’t show clearly the cooking instructions for oven cooking but they are there lol

This was nice, I know nice is a bland word but that’s probably the best way of describing it. The flavours were good nice hint of coconut which seems to be the essence of lots of Thai dishes. There were flecks of what I could only describe as spring onion going through the dish and clearly defined pieces of chicken. The only drawback for me was it was a bit congealed it wasn’t as saucy as I’d have liked…. but I was in a rush and left it in the container because I was in a hurry before I went to pool.

I wouldn’t rush out to buy this one again, it may not have been cooked properly my end although I pretty much followed the instructions – as well as I could because I have a weird 700W microwave. I’ve rated this a four out of ten, although this may be me being a slight bit stingy.

Well in line with my statement last week here is my latest Ready Meal Monday… on Tuesday lol! For this week’s installment of Ready Meal Monday I’m reviewing Weight Watchers Salmon and Broccoli Wedge Melt.

Now if you know one (well two) things about me you’ll know that I love Broccoli and I really love Salmon so was pleased when I saw this in the supermarket. This recipe was part of Weight Watchers Signature Recipes and was described on the box as

Salmon pieces in a savoury sauce, covered with a crumb and mozzarella cheese topping served with crunchy wedges

This dish was excellent and lived up to what I was hoping for, I also felt better when eating it because it was Weight Watchers lol. For a better break down on the nutritional values of this dish and its ingredients see the pictures below.

The sauce was excellent and the broccoli was tasted good, it was firm but not too crunchy. The salmon was succulent, tasty and was complimented by the sauce and the broccoli. The cooking instructions were easy and straight forward to follow. I added half a minute onto the cooking time as my microwave is 700W, see the picture below

I suppose, very similarly to the ready meal last week the potatoes were not as advertised. There was nothing wrong with them as such, they were not however, crunchy! That didn’t upset me at all because being crunchy wasn’t overly important to me.   I was very impressed with Weight Watchers Customer Service statement (see the picture below).

Another great ready meal and one I would definitely have again. I thoroughly enjoyed it and, with the ingredient list will try and re-create it…. at some point. So what for next week, well I’m not sure yet, what the ready meal is going to be but it’ll be something great I’m sure!.
